CARES

Susquehanna County CARES works in partnership with the Susquehanna County Literacy Program.

CARES mission: promote and enhance quality childcare and education in Susquehanna County.

As a state mandated early education community engagement group, Susquehanna County CARES works to fulfill Pennsylvania’s Promise for Children, because every child is Pennsylvania’s future. Studies show those who receive quality care and education before the age of 5 improve their chances of success later in life.

Some projects and programs include:

*Distributing “School Readiness Backpacks” to families with children
starting school for the first time.

*Hosting free screenings for childhood development.

*Providing information about quality early education Pennsylvania
initiatives such as Keystone STARS, Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts and Child Care Works.

*Organizing key events promoting quality early learning such as a county-wide “Young Art Display,” “CARES Young Children’s Fair” and “ Night of STARS.”

If you have questions about choosing quality childcare, need information on CARES programs, or would like to know more about the work of this non-profit/volunteer based group, contact Susquehanna County CARES at (570) 465-5040 or stcares@epix.net
